BlockBeats news, on January 21st, Obol Collective, an industry group established last year to promote distributed validator technology. According to Tuesday’s announcement, the organization plans to introduce and Airdrop its new token OBOL to thousands of network participants.
The Airdrop targets include Ethereum independent validators, Rocketpool node operators, and Obol Techne voucher holders who will join Obol’s decentralized operator ecosystem. The snapshot was taken on January 13th, and the initial distribution is scheduled to begin on Tuesday.
The token will serve as the governance mechanism for Obol Collective, and Obol’s launch includes over 50 staking protocols, client teams, software tools, as well as professional node operators and home stakers, including major participants EigenLayer, Figment, and Lido, the latter being Obol’s launch partner.
