The Liberal Democratic Party of Japan recently announced the establishment of a new position, ‘Web3 Lead,’ in the Digital Society Promotion Headquarters. Disband the Web3 project team and establish the role of Web3

Japanese Digital Minister Hirano Masaki recently announced on Twitter that the Liberal Democratic Party will dissolve the original Web3 project team and establish a new ‘Web3 role’ within the Digital Society Advancement Department to strengthen the execution and planning of Web3-related policies. Minister Hirano Masaki stated that the current director of the Web3 project team, Member Shiozaki Akihisa, will assume the ‘Web3 role’ to provide stable support for the continuity of Web3 policies.

Yenozaki is one of the main promoters of Japan’s Web3 policy. During his tenure in the Web3 project team, he was responsible for organizing project content and participating in regulatory policy formulation. For example, he participated in the editing of Japan’s ‘Web3 White Paper 2024’, emphasizing the importance of cryptocurrency transaction tax reform, and has successfully promoted tax reforms related to enterprises or corporate entities.

During my tenure, I also paid special attention to the development of Decentralized Autonomous Organizations (DAO) in Japan, and even organized Hackerthon events to support Web3 technology innovation. I even suggested that the Japanese parliament establish a dedicated Web3 minister.

In 2022, Congressman Enzaki raised questions about the Japanese government’s Web3 policy during the Financial and Financial Committee of the House of Representatives in Japan. He even suggested the establishment of a dedicated Web3 minister, showing his passion for the Web3 field.

The Liberal Democratic Party’s Web3 project team held a series of four DAO (Decentralized Autonomous Organization) Hackerthon events. Prime Minister Shizuka Shiba strongly supports Japan’s integration of blockchain and non-fungible tokens.

Current Prime Minister Shizuka Kamei also proposed in the policy proposal to include blockchain and Non-fungible Token applications in the ‘Local Revitalization 2.0’ plan. Through digital technology, the Japanese government hopes to further amplify the value of local characteristics such as local cuisine and tourism experiences, attracting global attention and injecting new momentum into the local economy.
