Why is Gas Hero redefining chain gaming?

为什么Gas Hero会重新定义链游?

In this article, I’ll discuss why Gas Hero will be the next app that defines on-chain gaming, and why it matters to you (and GMT) even if you don’t play games.

Since we made StepN a blockchain-defining app two years ago, millions of people have learned about non-custodial Wallets and made their first on-chain swap transactions.

It’s been a while since we saw another app that defines an entire category, but it won’t be long before you see the next one. Specifically, within 24 hours.

Gas Hero is:

a) an accelerated, game-theoretic-oriented simulation game of human society;

b) A playground with a clear set of rules + a high degree of freedom in which people cooperate and compete;

**c) A social and strategy-oriented financial game ** (I insist on not calling it “Social-Fi” because those who know me well know how much I hate the term).

Disclaimer: This post does not constitute any financial advice, so I will not provide any advice or detailed calculations on how Gas Hero relates to the rise of $GMT. You can find all the information about the inflow and outflow of GMT in the Gas Hero White Paper (). I’m just here to share with you my guesses why someone (yes, you don’t have to be a gamer to get addicted because I’m not a gamer either) use and stay in Gas Hero. I’m sure some Aper will do the math for themselves and maybe for everyone, haha. Please do your own research (DYOR).

1. Why do people care about Gas Hero, and what externalities do people get when they pay for an experience?

Anyone who pays for entertainment is looking for some form of “comfort” or positive feedback. In Gas Hero, you can always get comfort in some form of human desire: power, glory, or wealth.

Let’s deconstruct the experience people get concretely:

A) Power: Whether you want to be a governor ruling a region or serving as an altruist, the game world is up to you to control or contribute;

**b) Glory: Strategists aim to outwit their opponents, and generals seek to defeat their enemies;

**c) Wealth: Farmers harvest yields, while merchants profit from arbitrage opportunities. **

It’s important that the rules are simple so that everyone can find their own specific point of enjoyment (as you’ve learned from me, a wish can be fulfilled in many ways). Anything within the rules is permissible;

2. Who’s paying?

To become a leader in Gas Hero or win a certain level in PvP, one needs to spend something first and equip the required gear to be competitive enough.

First, there is an incentive for these individuals to prepay before they become competitive high-end players, and they want a larger share of the return – leaders profit from Non-fungible Token market fees, and PvP winners profit from auction house revenue. Players who try to become leaders but fail, as well as PvP players who lose in the competition, are paying this fee. **

Moreover, those who choose the wealth experience route are actually liquidity providers, as they are constantly building a bridge of price arbitrage between commodities in PvE resources/auction houses and those listed on the secondary market.

3. Why do people keep playing this game?

There are two key design concepts in Gas Hero: Hope and Bonding.

Hope comes from any event with probabilities: breeding, leveling up, opening capsules, etc. Knowing that the chances of an event are low never deprives people of the joy of actually getting a low-probability outcome. People tend to believe/hope that they are lucky and are especially happy when hope becomes a reality.

Bonding is given through activities that require cooperation or competition. When people know that working together on team tasks makes everyone better, they will not only work together but will even attract people who are not yet working together to join their ranks. When a person is defeated by someone who is close to him/her in strength, he/she will most likely want to try again and outperform the opponent in the next attempt.

With the right balance of hope and regret, as well as an adequate connection between players, the experience curve will be Fluctuation, but trending upward. Even if they don’t get the results they hoped for (i.e. becoming a jurisdictional leader or winning PvP), they try again in the next election cycle because they receive some small positive feedback along the way, with new hopes and old connections always encouraging them to stay.

More about the design concept of Gas Hero can be found here.

4. Why are more people interested in joining this game?

Obviously, as a social/strategy-oriented financial game, money is very important, but that’s yet to be revealed by real players, so I won’t get too involved in the discussion of price.

The game world will naturally attract more people to join, as the mechanics are designed to favor those who can work well together beforehand. When a person is attracted to the experience that the game provides, he is motivated to bring more players to himself and educate them about the game because they can have a better experience together by cooperating.

5. What did we learn from STEPN to make Gas Hero a good game theory simulation world?

a) Limited life of assets -> Non-sustainable productive assets + better asset turnover/Non-fungible Token Liquidity

b) Diversify production gains (from fungible Token to Non-fungible Token of various resources) and convert the proceeds into derivative productive assets -> increases the potential Depth of game strategy

c) Seasonal Setting -> allows the economy to fully revive after entering the long-tail cycle, giving room for new players to join

d) Implement a system that allows market forces to self-regulate -> The constraints and balances of the “invisible hand” of the market are the cornerstones of a strong, flexible and sustainable economy

6. What happens next, and why does that matter to you?

You may still be skeptical about experiencing another life through Gas Hero and finding fulfillment in power, glory, or wealth.

But at the very least, you might want to focus on the amount of GMT locked on-chain because the game. Just to let you know (and I’m not even going to go into depth) that half of the auction house revenue (revenue from in-game initial sales) is burned, while half of the in-game confluence (upgrades, breeding, BCV building, etc.) is also destroyed. Do some math and you’ll see the collective efforts of the entire Find Satoshi Lab community that will take GMT on a farther and longer journey.

You can:

  1. Within 24 hours, play the game on

  2. Check Dune Dashboard: hero/gh (total in-game GMT locks and game asset transactions updated after game launch)
