OpenAI made a surprise announcement, announcing a change of leadership.

OpenAI employees only learned about the news after seeing the announcement, and many employees said it was incredible, and even the president wrote a letter to announce his withdrawal after seeing the news.

In the announcement, it was announced that Mira Murati, the former CTO, will take over as CEO on an interim basis, and an official successor is still being sought.

Ultraman is expelled

After ceasing to be CEO, Altman left OpenAI altogether and did not hold any position.

Microsoft, which has invested billions of dollars in OpenAI, said the partnership would not be affected.

Microsoft spokesman Frank Shaw said in a statement:

Mira Murati is a graduate of Dartmouth College.

Prior to joining OpenAI, she spent three years at Tesla as a senior product manager in charge of Model X.

After leaving Tesla in 2016, she served as vice president of product and engineering at VR company Leap Motion.

She joined OpenAI in 2018 as Vice President of Applied AI and Partnerships.

In 2020, he was promoted to Senior Vice President, Research, Product and Partnerships.

In May 2022, he became Chief Technology Officer.

As of press time, Murati himself has not commented on the matter.

The new OpenAI Board of Directors

As part of the transition, former President Greg Brockman will also step down from the Board of Directors to continue in his corporate role, reporting to the CEO.

The new Board of Directors consists of Chief Scientist Ilya Sutskever, as well as three independent directors:
