Ministry of Commerce responds to review of Meta's acquisition of Manus: Enterprises engaging in foreign investment and other activities must comply with Chinese laws and regulations
PANews January 8 News, according to Xinhua News Agency, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Commerce, He Yadong, responded to questions regarding the review of Meta’s acquisition of the artificial intelligence platform Manus by saying that the Chinese government has always supported enterprises in conducting mutually beneficial and win-win cross-border operations and international technological cooperation in accordance with the law and regulations. It should be noted that activities such as foreign investment, technology export, data outbound transfer, and cross-border mergers and acquisitions by enterprises must comply with Chinese laws and regulations and follow statutory procedures. The Ministry of Commerce will work together with relevant departments to conduct an assessment and investigation on the consistency of this acquisition with export control, technology import and export, foreign investment, and other related laws and regulations.
