Conviction and Sentencing
Roman Sterlingov, 36, received a 150-month federal prison sentence and was ordered to forfeit $395 million and seized assets worth $1.76 million.
Additionally, he must forfeit 1,345 BTC valued at over $103 million. Sterlingov was found guilty of money
laundering, conspiracy, and operating an unlicensed money transmitting business linked to Bitcoin Fog, a cryptocurrency mixer, which he allegedly operated from 2011 to 2021.
Prosecutors sought a 20 to 30-year sentence.
