Yesterday I saw a little girl drop her ice cream in the parking lot.

Total meltdown.
Her father didn't rush to fix it.
He didn't try to solve it.
He didn't try to distract her.
He simply sat down on the hot asphalt next to her and said:
"That really sucks, doesn't it?"
They sat there for a whole minute.
She was crying.
And he was sad with her.
Then he took her hand and said:
"Should we go home?"
I've been thinking about that all day.
Maybe the best thing you can offer someone isn't a solution.
Maybe the best thing you can offer is simply your presence.
