“There will be no deal with Iran except UNCONDITIONAL SURRENDER!” Trump said in a Truth Social post on Friday. Earlier this week, he told Axios that he must be involved in the selection of the country’s next leader, “like with Delcy [Rodriguez] in Venezuela.”

Khamenei Succession Looms as Oil Prices Jump

Mojtaba Khamenei, the son of the late Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, is expected to replace his father as Iran’s supreme leader, although no official announcement has been made yet. Iran has delayed the announcement due to security concerns.

Tensions in the Middle East have nearly erased all ship traffic through the Strait of Hormuz, which handles roughly 20% of global oil flows. In the event of a prolonged conflict, higher energy prices could lead to growing inflation and falling consumer demand. The price for a gallon of gas in the U.S. has surged 33.8 cents over the past week, according to AAA.
