Is it possible to make the reasoning process of AI verifiable and trustworthy like blockchain transactions? @inference_labs was born out of this very question. The vision of Inference Labs is to create a network layer that enables cryptographic verification of AI inference results. Through the Proof of Inference protocol, the authenticity of AI inference outputs can be verified by any third party, while ensuring model privacy and data security. Such a mechanism is highly significant for industries that rely on AI outputs for critical decisions, such as healthcare, finance, and governance. To achieve this goal, Inference Labs has built a decentralized AI inference verification architecture that allows the reasoning process to be completed off-chain in a fast and efficient manner, with verification information submitted on-chain via zero-knowledge proofs. This design balances privacy protection and trustworthy verification needs, avoiding performance bottlenecks associated with directly on-chain large models and computational processes. Inference Labs' Subnet 2 operating within the Bittensor network has become the world's largest decentralized zkML proof cluster, generating over 160 million proof samples, demonstrating its practicality and scalability. This question extends to broader considerations: in the current context where AI is increasingly integrated into various real-world systems, how can we ensure AI is both efficient and trustworthy? The Proof of Inference mechanism proposed by Inference Labs offers an answer, focusing not only on the correctness of AI outputs but also on building an open, decentralized verification ecosystem. This concept has received investment support from multiple parties including DACM, Delphi Ventures, and Arche Capital, jointly promoting the establishment of trust infrastructure between AI and Web3. As more AI-driven decisions require transparency and verifiability in the future, such foundational trust protocols could become key to driving wider AI adoption.
