【Blockchain Rhythm】London-based digital asset hedge fund Karatage has made a new move. On January 7th, the fund announced the appointment of Shane O’Callaghan as Senior Partner and Head of Institutional Strategy.

O’Callaghan’s background is impressive—he was responsible for global institutional partnerships and digital asset sales at the well-known Dutch market maker IMC Trading, and has also held positions at several prominent crypto platforms and investment firms, including Portofino Technologies and BlockFi.

Karatage was founded in 2017, primarily investing in digital assets, crypto funds, and blockchain-related companies. CEO Marius Barnett is optimistic about this personnel change, believing that O’Callaghan’s addition can help the company “execute higher-level strategies and achieve faster growth.” This move reflects the ongoing investment of mature funds in institutional cooperation and market expansion.

Research shows that personnel adjustments are often a precursor signal for fund strategic changes. Notably, such executive appointments are usually accompanied by a significant increase in institutional allocation demand. Data indicates that mature funds' personnel expansion rate during bull market cycles is positively correlated with AUM growth rate.
