China is currently reviewing whether Meta's $2 billion acquisition of Manus violates regulations. Now AI technology is also subject to export controls, even if the company has relocated overseas. Manus preemptively "de-Chinesed" itself to facilitate a smooth acquisition by registering a Singaporean company, conducting large-scale layoffs domestically, and completely shutting down Chinese operations and social media accounts to sell with a "pure overseas identity." Why can’t people stay in China? So hard to guess. 😂
