If you want to make money, the key is how you take the first step. Entering the market is both important and not important—it's just the tip of the iceberg in the entire trading system, but without it, nothing can start.

Traders all want a "reliable" entry signal. Whether you're a value investor waiting for a bargain to buy or a speculator chasing the latest trend, the fundamental need is the same. Value investors look for "undervalued" opportunities, while speculators seek "upward signals." The directions sound different, but both are betting on probabilities.

There are basically two ways to find entry methods. One is to stack win rates, aiming for more winning trades. The other is to focus on long-term gains, even if the win rate is low, as long as each trade is profitable enough to excite you. The latter actually changes the entire game.

Here's an interesting example—random entry. Literally, flipping a coin to decide the direction. Heads go long, tails go short. After entering, stop-loss is set at 3 times ATR. If the price moves in your favor, you track the trend with a pullback or rebound of 3 times ATR. Each trade risks only 1% of total capital.

This system was tested across more than 20 different futures markets. The result? A win rate of only 38%. Sounds not great, right? But if you keep running it, long-term it almost always results in stable profits. Although each simulation has fluctuations—sometimes earning more, sometimes less—that's the trade-off between risk and reward.

A 38% win rate can still be consistently profitable. This is the true trading logic, not the gambling probability approach.

A 38% win rate can still be profitable? I need to think this through some more.

A 38% win rate can still be consistently profitable. This is true enlightenment, not the kind of self-delusion that comes from greed for high win rates.

Is a 38% win rate still profitable? The key isn't really about how many times you win, but how much you earn each time.

Is it really possible to stay profitable with a 38% win rate? Is this for real? That logic is a bit extreme.
