Why do many people have a dream of getting rich quickly?

In real life, such incidents are everywhere: after getting rich overnight through various channels, some people spend thousands of dollars extravagantly, only to run out of money within a few years, then take risks and break the law, ultimately ending up in jail; some dream of sudden wealth every day, completely losing their ability to work, and eventually becoming a burden to society; others are easily deceived by illegal financial institutions and scammers, pouring all their savings into high-risk projects, only to see their previous efforts go down the drain, leading to family breakdowns and even death…

In 2016, 21-year-old college student Zheng borrowed 100,000 yuan due to his obsession with football betting. His father used years of savings and borrowed money from others to cover his debt. His uncle uninstalled all betting and lending apps from his phone and earnestly advised him to turn back from the brink. However, Zheng ultimately succumbed to his inner desires. From 200,000, 300,000, to finally 600,000 yuan, Zheng’s gambling debts kept increasing. With nowhere to turn, he chose to jump off a building and commit suicide.

Desire is the most destructive force in this world. And the desire for money is even more destructive; it often causes people to become mentally confused and unable to extricate themselves. The more one yearns for overnight wealth, the easier it is to fall into traps and suffer losses.

In a TV program, guest Yan Geling mentioned that when she was writing her novel “Fusang,” she read a lot of background materials and discovered a phenomenon: many Chinese laborers worked hard outside for ten years to save enough money to go home, marry, have children, and build houses. But on the way back home on a large ship, they all crowded in the stuffy lower deck, gambling day and night until they went blind with excitement.

Before they even reached home, many had lost all their money, left with only a pair of shorts. Because they felt ashamed to face their families, they didn’t even step ashore and turned back with the ship. Yan Geling described: “When talking to these gamblers, they would tell you, I have a feeling about my hand… They always think that their actions are inevitable…”

Most gamblers become insanely reckless driven by the desire to get rich overnight, even if they lose everything. What’s terrifying is that many people in real life harbor dreams of getting rich overnight. If they cannot control their surging desires, they will also lose their minds, become desperate gamblers, and ultimately lose their future and hope.

In life, there are several types of people most susceptible to the temptation of overnight wealth:

  • Extremely enjoy unearned gains. These people find it hard to overcome human laziness and are long-term addicted to unrealistic fantasies. The idea of getting rich overnight perfectly matches their psychology, making them obsessed.

  • Low sense of happiness. Those with very low happiness in life also find it difficult to escape the desire for overnight wealth. They lack a sense of security internally, live anxiously and naively, and attribute their unhappiness to material deprivation.

  • Overambitious but incapable. They have big dreams but lack the ability to realize them. They desire to accumulate a large amount of wealth in a very short time but are unwilling to do ordinary work.

Why is money so tempting to people? Money is always accompanied by desires for consumption and pleasure. As a person’s desires grow, they will want more money to satisfy those desires.

In fact, many outstanding and strong people have also yearned for overnight wealth, but they always clearly understand that it is just an unrealistic fantasy. The saying “A gentleman loves wealth and acquires it through proper means” reflects that to satisfy their desires, they work steadily and fight with all their might to seize their opportunities. Having this mindset is the key to managing wealth. **$LISTA **$PSTAKE **$STABLE **
