## 'Nobody 2' Hits Premium Video on Demand This Week With Expanded Comedy Edge

Bob Odenkirk's return to the action-crime genre continues its theatrical run with plans to transition to streaming platforms. The sequel—which premiered in cinemas on August 15—will become available for digital purchase via PVOD on Tuesday, September 2, according to _When to Stream_.

### A Fresh Comedic Direction for the Franchise

The original _Nobody_ (2021) took itself seriously, a calculated risk for Odenkirk given his background. The actor's comedic credentials run deep: from his SNL writing days in the late 1980s through the mid-1990s to his breakout dramatic role as Saul Goodman in _Breaking Bad_ and _Better Call Saul_. Odenkirk deliberately toned down the humor in that first installment to prove he could genuinely pull off an action vehicle without audiences dismissing him.

For this sequel, however, Odenkirk and director Timo Tjahjanto—working from a script by _John Wick_ creator Derek Kolstad and Aaron Rabin—have recalibrated the formula. "The sequel's funnier. It's got jokes within the fight," Odenkirk shared with _Variety_. By weaving comedic moments into action sequences, Odenkirk notes he's given himself an insurance policy: audiences can interpret the film as intentional comedy rather than a serious actor stumbling through action beats.

### Plot and Streaming Details

In _Nobody 2_, Hutch (Odenkirk) and his wife Becca (Connie Nielsen) escape their high-stress lives for a family vacation to Plummerville, the small tourist town where Hutch and his brother Harry (RZA) vacationed as children. Joined by his father (Christopher Lloyd) and their kids, the getaway quickly spirals when a run-in with local bullies triggers a confrontation with a corrupt theme-park operator (John Ortiz) and his corrupt lawman (Colin Hanks). Hutch faces off against one of his most formidable antagonists yet, portrayed by Sharon Stone.

When the film debuts on PVOD starting September 2, viewers can purchase it for $24.99 across platforms including Apple TV, Fandango at Home, Prime Video, and YouTube. Those preferring to rent will pay $19.99 for a 48-hour window. While _When to Stream_ maintains a strong track record with PVOD announcements, Universal Pictures has not officially confirmed this date, leaving room for adjustment.
