According to a report by CBS News on the 20th, the Trump administration is developing a strategic plan to seize Iran’s “nuclear reserves.” The report states that the U.S. government has recently shifted its focus to a longer-term goal initially proposed by President Trump: ensuring that Iran no longer has the capability to produce nuclear weapons. U.S. officials have indicated that the Trump administration has not ruled out the possibility of attempting to seize Iran’s highly enriched uranium during current military operations. The report cites multiple sources saying that Trump has not yet made a decision on this, but may deploy units from the Joint Special Operations Command to carry out the plan. This elite force is typically responsible for the most sensitive counter-proliferation missions. The report also notes that a White House spokesperson said the Pentagon is responsible for the preparations, but the Pentagon has not commented on this matter. (Xinhua)
