Economic Daily, Beijing, March 18 (Reporter Shen Hui) — The Information Office of the State Council held a press conference on the 18th to introduce details about the 2026 Zhongguancun Forum Annual Conference. During the event, Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Lin Xin revealed that, with approval from the State Council, the 2026 Zhongguancun Forum Annual Conference will be held in Beijing from March 25 to 29.

This year’s Zhongguancun Forum Annual Conference is co-hosted by the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council, and the Chinese Academy of Sciences. The theme is “Deep Integration of Scientific and Industrial Innovation.” The conference features five main sections: forum sessions, achievement releases, technology transactions, frontier competitions, and supporting activities, totaling over 100 events. It is expected to attract thousands of guests from more than 100 countries and regions.

Lin Xin introduced that, overall, this year’s forum has four main characteristics. First, emphasizing the expansion of the international science and innovation center. Focused on the construction of the Beijing (Jing-Jin-Ji) International Science and Innovation Center, the three regions will jointly host the Jing-Jin-Ji Collaborative Innovation and High-Quality Development Forum and the Jing-Jin-Ji Technology Achievement Matchmaking Conference, releasing policies to deepen cooperation among the three areas, promoting collaborative innovation and industrial cooperation, and advancing the “six key industrial chains and five industrial clusters” in depth.

Second, highlighting the deep integration of scientific and industrial innovation. Several thematic forums will be held around frontier fields such as 6G and brain-computer interfaces, to explore technological innovation and industrial applications in these areas. Frontier technology competitions and technology transaction conferences will also be organized to provide platforms for transforming scientific achievements.

Third, promoting integrated development of education, science, technology, and talent. Renowned universities, research institutes, and leading enterprises from home and abroad will be deeply involved, gathering outstanding engineers and young scientific talents to discuss talent cultivation models driven by technological development and strategic needs, stimulating innovation vitality.

Fourth, emphasizing high-level scientific and technological openness and cooperation. Under the framework of bilateral and multilateral international cooperation agreements, multiple themed forums will be held, implementing the International Open Science Initiative, and releasing the “International Cooperation Action Plan for Open Science.”
