Hong Kong Stocks in Focus | Optical Communication Concept Stocks Decline Sharply, Fiberhome Telecom (06869) Falls Over 11%, Cambridge Technology (06166) Falls Over 8%
Bloomberg News has learned that the optical communication concept stocks declined. As of the time of writing, Long Fiber Optic Cable (06869) fell 11.45% to HKD 141.5; Cambridge Technology (06166) dropped 8.12% to HKD 71.9.
On the news front, after Nvidia announced multiple technological breakthroughs at the GTC conference, the computing industry chain experienced a sharp decline. According to Yicai, some analysts believe that Nvidia’s announcement of certain new-generation chips scheduled for release in 2028 has disrupted short-term market sentiment. Although the iteration of related optical communication technologies presents long-term benefits, for investors seeking certainty, this positive news’ impact on the industry’s subsequent growth remains uncertain. Coupled with high valuations and significant prior gains in the industry chain, short-term correction pressure is evident.
It is worth noting that at the GTC 2026 conference, Jensen Huang stated, “Copper is still important, and optics will be used for different dimensions of expansion. Both are essential capabilities.” It is reported that to break through capacity limitations, Nvidia will launch a new MGX rack—NVIDIA Kyber. NVIDIA Kyber is a new generation MGX NVL rack, with each rack’s NVLink domain capacity doubling to accommodate 144 GPUs. Huang Huang said that this rack will adopt CPO and copper interconnects for scale-up expansion. Additionally, the Rubin architecture is also expected to widely adopt copper interconnects.
