A former Los Angeles County deputy sheriff was sentenced to 63 months in prison for conspiracy to extort and conspiracy to violate civil rights. 44-year-old Michael David Coburg was ordered to pay $127,000 in restitution for abusing his authority to assist cryptocurrency entrepreneur Adam Yaz (known as the "Crypto Godfather") in intimidating business rivals and planning a false arrest in 2021. Yaz has admitted to fraud and conspiracy charges and remains in custody awaiting sentencing.
