Grammarly's AI "expert feedback" feature faces a class action lawsuit for mimicking feedback from celebrities like Stephen King and Kara Swisher without permission. Journalist Julia Angwin, who is leading the lawsuit, claims the company sold "fake" expert opinions, violating her privacy and right of publicity. The feature, which charged $144 annually, has been disabled due to criticism for providing generic advice. CEO Sishir Mehrotra has apologized but continues to defend the concept of allowing AI to impersonate experts to help users.
