The FBI has arrested a suspect in the theft of $46 million in cryptocurrency from U.S. authorities

The FBI announced the arrest of John Dagita, who was previously linked to the theft of tens of millions of dollars in cryptocurrency from wallets controlled by U.S. authorities.

According to the investigation by crypto detective ZachXBT, Dagita is the son of the head of Command Services & Support (CMDSS). In 2024, the company received a contract from the U.S. Federal Marshals Service to manage confiscated crypto assets.

An analyst claimed that Dagita may be involved in the theft of at least $40 million of cryptocurrency under U.S. control. He was identified after a public dispute with another hacker on Telegram, where he posted a video of a transfer of $23 million between his wallets.

According to FBI Director Christopher Wray, Dagita was detained on the island of Saint Martin during a joint operation by the FBI and an elite unit of the French Gendarmerie.
