Afroman confirms his attendance at the milestone after winning a historic victory in his fight for free speech at Bitcoin 2026
Today, The Bitcoin Conference (the Bitcoin Conference) announced that the rapper, culture provocateur, and emerging champion of free speech, Afroman, will take the stage at Bitcoin 2026. The event will be held April 27 to 29 at The Venetian Resort in Las Vegas.
Afroman is best known for the 2001 global hit single “Because I Got High,” but over the past three years he has thrown himself into a legal battle far beyond the music realm. In 2022, law enforcement searched his residence but found nothing. Afroman fought back in an artist’s own way: he incorporated surveillance footage from the search into his music to document and question the abuse of power. Soon after, seven officers accused him of defamation, seeking nearly $4 million in damages and a forced takedown of the content. Earlier this month, the jury ruled in Afroman’s favor, officially bringing the case to a close. When he stepped out of the courthouse, Afroman told the media, “It’s not me who won—it’s America.”
This is a story that resonates deeply with the Bitcoin community.
Bitcoin is increasingly becoming a platform for individuals to push back against excessive interference—whether in finance, free speech, or creative ownership. This legal battle sparked by a police search has evolved into a viral-style critique of authority, intensifying these contradictions. By using music, media, and “memes” to challenge established narratives, this approach strongly resonates with communities that value transparency, self-sovereignty, and free speech.
BTC Inc. CEO Brandon Green said, “The core of Bitcoin has never been just about money—it’s about defending the right to free speech, free creation, and a free life. We’re proud to be fighting alongside these warriors.”
Afroman’s involvement at Bitcoin 2026 won’t be limited to speaking. The American-flag suit he wore throughout the legal battle will be displayed in the “Revolution Relics” segment of the Bitcoin conference art exhibition. The exhibition aims to explore, in Bitcoin’s brief history, the art of resistance against institutional power and asymmetric responses. The suit is currently up for auction at Scarce.city (link). Bitcoin 2026 is expected to attract more than 30k attendees worldwide and will invite over 500 speaking guests. For more information, visit 2026.b.tc.
