Gate News reports that on March 21, OpenAI co-founder and “vibe coding” concept originator Andrej Karpathy revealed on the No Priors podcast that December last year marked a watershed moment in his work approach. Previously, he wrote code himself and delegated to agents at an approximate ratio of 80:20; after December, it reversed to 20:80, and “it might be even more now,” “I probably haven’t written a line of code since December.” He calls this state “AI psychosis,” believing that the capabilities of agents have not yet been fully explored, “everything is possible, and all failures ultimately come down to skill issues.” He began to focus on token throughput, similar to GPU utilization during his PhD, saying, “If you haven’t used up your subscription quota, it means you’re not maximizing output.” He also described the “jagged” feeling of agents: “It’s like talking to a very smart PhD who has spent a lifetime doing system programming, and at the same time talking to a ten-year-old kid.”
