Elon Musk announced this morning on X that the platform’s AI recommendation algorithm will receive a “major update” next week, and the source code will be released simultaneously.

Community Reach

We know that X is currently the most concentrated information dissemination platform in the cryptocurrency ecosystem. But open-sourcing isn’t necessarily all good

It’s worth considering that open-sourcing is a double-edged sword. Once the algorithm is public, anyone can study how to manipulate it; in other words, content farms, bot accounts, and even organized market manipulators could exploit system vulnerabilities more efficiently to amplify specific narratives.

Previous studies have shown that some token pump posts can systematically bypass platform moderation and reach far beyond normal engagement levels. While open-sourcing makes oversight possible, it also enables more precise manipulation.
