Elon Musk announced that the AI recommendation algorithm on the X platform will undergo a major update next week, and the source code will be open-sourced for public review. This means the core mechanism that determines which discussions are amplified and which voices are suppressed may be made transparent to everyone.

Elon Musk announced this morning on X that the platform’s AI recommendation algorithm will receive a “major update” next week, and the source code will be released simultaneously.

We know that X is currently the most concentrated information dissemination platform in the cryptocurrency ecosystem. A large number of KOLs’ opinions, project announcements, and real-time on-chain data interpretations are almost all first shared on X. The platform’s algorithm is the core engine that determines “what you see” on users’ timelines.
Although we cannot yet confirm how much of the open-source initiative Musk mentioned will be fully disclosed, it suggests that anyone—including developers, researchers, and crypto community members—may have direct access to review the logic behind the algorithm. This also allows verification of whether there is systemic bias or suppression of certain content.
It’s worth considering that open-sourcing is a double-edged sword. Once the algorithm is public, anyone can study how to manipulate it; in other words, content farms, bot accounts, and even organized market manipulators could exploit system vulnerabilities more efficiently to amplify specific narratives.
Previous studies have shown that some token pump posts can systematically bypass platform moderation and reach far beyond normal engagement levels. While open-sourcing makes oversight possible, it also enables more precise manipulation.
Regardless, Stay tuned as we continue to follow Musk’s actions next week.
