Elon Musk announced that the Macrohard project (or Digital Optimus) is a collaborative initiative between xAI and Tesla, implemented as part of Tesla’s investment agreement with xAI.
In this system, Grok – an AI chatbot developed by xAI – acts as the “central coordinator,” helping to understand the global context and guide Digital Optimus. This AI can continuously process 5 seconds of computer screen video data along with keyboard and mouse actions in real time.
According to Musk, Grok functions like an advanced version of a step-by-step navigation software, while Digital Optimus handles reflexes and execution.
The system is expected to run on low-cost Tesla AI4 chips (around $650) combined with Nvidia hardware from xAI. Musk believes this technology can simulate the operations of an entire company, making Macrohard a unique real-time AI system that no other enterprise has achieved.
