Luda AI raises $450 million in funding... Revolutionizing AI robot training
Roda AI, based in Palo Alto, recently announced it raised $450 million in Series A funding. The funds will be used to train AI robots using internet videos. Led by Premji Invest, this round of financing values Roda AI at $1.7 billion.
Roda AI aims to go beyond remote operation in robot training by leveraging the massive data available from internet videos to expand the robots’ learning scope. Remote operation is a method of training robots using remote control devices, but its drawback is limited data volume. Roda AI’s main goal is to overcome this limitation by supplementing with diverse real-world data to enhance the robots’ learning capabilities.
Roda AI CEO Zagdip Singh told Bloomberg, “The goal is to expose the model to the movement of various objects and develop its generalization ability.” Roda AI calls this approach “direct video action,” focusing on improving robots’ adaptability in diverse scenarios.
Additionally, other investors participating in this Series A include Cosla Ventures, Temasek Holdings in Singapore, and venture capitalist John Dole. Roda AI has shown strong performance in the field of “physical AI,” which aims to bridge the gap between the physical and digital worlds, enabling robots to operate in real environments. This technology can also be applied to autonomous vehicles, adaptive production lines, and other areas with huge future growth potential.
