Mattel (MTTRF), acquisition of American cable yields significant results with sales surging 43%…… expanding North American cable market
Canadian industrial materials company Mattr (OTC: MTTRF) has seen significant growth in its 2025 performance due to the acquisition of AmerCable. Expanding its North American wire and cable business is considered a key driver of this performance.
In its recent earnings report, Mattr stated that for fiscal year 2025, sales reached $1.2685 billion (approximately 1.8266 trillion Korean won), a 43.3% increase from the previous year. During the same period, adjusted EBITDA was $154.8 million (about 222.9 billion Korean won), up 43.1%, indicating improvements in both profitability and growth.
<
The core of this performance improvement lies in the acquisition of AmerCable completed in January 2025. AmerCable is a company that supplies high-performance cables to the North American energy, mining, and industrial infrastructure sectors. Through this acquisition, Mattr strengthened its business portfolio in the North American power and industrial cable markets. Industry analysts believe that this acquisition rapidly expanded Mattr’s sales share in North America and became a direct catalyst for its growth.
<
The financial structure has also improved. During 2025, Mattr continuously reduced its debt and repurchased a total of 2.1 million shares for $23.3 million (about 335 billion Korean won), implementing shareholder return policies. The company explained that these measures are part of a strategy to balance long-term financial stability with enhancing shareholder value.
<
However, for 2026, the company issued a relatively “cautious” outlook. Mattr stated that next year’s sales and adjusted EBITDA may be “similar to or slightly lower than” 2025 levels. The company plans to prioritize “debt reduction” over aggressive expansion, focusing on strengthening financial robustness.
<
Market analysts believe that while Mattr has gained short-term momentum through the acquisition effect, its future performance will largely depend on the investment cycle in North American energy and infrastructure sectors. If infrastructure investments continue to expand, demand for cables and specialty materials is expected to grow, and Mattr’s long-term growth story is likely to be sustained.
