Roam Pilot Burning Pool went online for 16 hours, burning 61 million Points, and YZ decoded the best way to participate

On January 24th, the Roam Pilot Burning Pool function was officially launched. Users can convert Roam Points to $ROAM Token through the Pilot Burning Pool. As the TGE approaches, the Roam Pilot Burning Pool not only allows users to familiarize themselves with the burning mechanism and operation process in advance but also helps them explore the best strategies to maximize personal returns. The burning pool has attracted a large number of users since its launch. Within the first 16 hours, the cumulative burning amount has exceeded 61 million Roam Points.

To address the issues encountered by community users during the participation process, on January 27th, Roam held an AMA event, where co-founder YZ personally answered questions and shared the operation of the burning pool and the best participation strategies.

Latest Developments and Frequently Asked Questions about Roam Pilot Burning Pool

In the AMA, YZ first explained the difference between the Roam Pilot Burning Pool and the official Burning Pool:

Compared with the official Burning Pool, the Pilot Burning Pool is designed to help users understand the working mechanism of the Burning Pool and its related operation process. Therefore, the difficulty adjustment mechanism has not been introduced in the Pilot Burning Pool, while the official Burning Pool after TGE will formally adopt dynamic difficulty adjustment to ensure a more market-oriented release of Tokens. In addition, the total amount of Token released in each burning cycle of the Pilot Burning Pool will be consistent with the total amount of release in the first burning cycle after the official Burning Pool goes live. Afterward, the total amount of Token released in each cycle of the official Burning Pool will be dynamically adjusted. Also, since Roam has not undergone TGE yet, the $ROAM Tokens obtained by users in the Pilot Burning Pool will be claimed through the App account after TGE.

Q 1: What are the most common problems that users encounter in this activity? What are the main reasons?

**YZ:**In the past few days, we have found some issues that some users have encountered. Some of them are related to the project itself, and some may be due to the fact that we still have room for improvement in community promotion, which has led to users not fully understanding the rules and operating procedures.

  • Mining Pool: The mining pool only supports the burning of Roam Points obtained through Roam miners (Rainier MAX 60, Baker MAX 30, MetaBlox OG). For example, if the account has a total of 200000 Roam Points, but only 15000 of them are obtained through Roam miners, only these 15000 Roam Points can be burned in the mining pool, and the remaining points cannot be used in the mining pool.
  • **Sticker Pool: ** Sticker only determines the user’s burnable Roam Points limit. If you have Sticker but insufficient Roam Points, you still cannot participate in the burning. Similarly, if you have more than 500 Roam Points but insufficient Sticker quantity, you need to collect more Sticker before participating in the Sticker Pool.
  • 48-hour locking rule: All Roam Points must be held in the account for 48 hours before they can be used for burning. The system will update the Roam Points balance at 00:00 UTC every day, and only points that have been updated twice can be used for burning. For example: If the current time is Tuesday 00:00 UTC, then only Roam Points obtained before Saturday 00:00 UTC can be used for burning. Therefore, when users participate in the burning pool, the total balance of Roam Points in the account may differ from the actual points available for burning.

Although there were some issues during the process, they have all been fixed now. The main purpose of the Pilot Burning Pool is to optimize the testing mechanism, and we are very grateful for the feedback and support from our users. Overall, I believe the performance of the economic model is in line with expectations.

Q 2: Some users have reported that they have more than 500 Roam Points but are unable to burn them. What could be the possible reason?

YZ: One possible reason is that the user selected the wrong burning pool. The miner burning pool is only available to users who own Roam miners. If you don’t have a miner, you cannot burn Roam Points in that pool. Therefore, please carefully read the rules of each burning pool before operating to ensure that you meet the participation requirements.

From the overall situation, this is not a systemic bug. Currently, about 10,000 users participate in the burning pool every minute. If it is a systemic issue, we will receive a lot of feedback.

Q 3: Why do some users report that their account points display as 0 or negative numbers?

YZ: We did find some abnormal user points. Among them, the system once mistakenly issued 460 Roam Points, causing many users to receive extra points in a short period of time. Our operations team discovered the issue within 5 minutes and quickly rolled back, restoring the points to the correct value. However, during this period, about 300 users completed the burn and claimed Token due to the mistaken issuance of Roam Points. Although the impact was relatively small, in order to ensure fairness, we rolled back the relevant accounts, so the points of some users may temporarily show as 0.

Q 4: How is the overall performance of the Pilot Burning Pool currently?

YZ: Pilot Burning Pool went live only 16 hours ago, and the total burning amount has exceeded 61 million Roam Points. Up to 15,000 users can participate simultaneously in a single cycle (approximately 17 minutes).

In addition, most of the burning activities are concentrated in the active hours of Asian users, especially in Korea and Southeast Asia, where the communities are most active.

**Q 5: How can users maximize burning benefits? Any suggestions?

YZ: The most important thing is to pay attention to the performance of each burning pool and choose the right time to burn. It is recommended to test 10 cycles first, observe the changes in Token earnings, and then adjust the strategy. If you have a large number of Roam Points, I personally suggest not to invest all of them in the same cycle at once, so that the overall yield is more susceptible to external influences. A more robust approach is to spread Roam Points across 500 to 1000 cycles. This is also a commonly used strategy for some large holders. This method can make the yield more predictable and stable, while reducing the impact of market fluctuations. Although there is no fixed optimal solution for burning strategies, through continuous optimization, we can find a more suitable way for ourselves.

Q 6: In the future, what optimizations will the formal burning pool have based on user feedback?

YZ: Based on user feedback, we plan to make the following optimizations:

  • Cancel the burning limit of Sticker: Currently, the maximum support for burning at a time is 50 Stickers, and the maximum burning limit is 5000 Roam Points. This limit reduces the efficiency of burning. We plan to cancel this limit to make Sticker burning more flexible.
  • Optimized user experience: In future versions, users will be able to directly enter the burning cycle and the quantity of points, without the need to drag and select, improving interaction efficiency.

In addition, regarding the performance of the miner burn pool, I personally think it is performing well at the moment. Although the total burn score of the mining pool is 10 million, I don’t think this is the final data. I have chatted with many mine owners, and they are currently only investing a small amount of Roam Points for testing, and may further increase the burning amount in the future. Therefore, I am very much looking forward to seeing the future contributions of mine users to the burn pool, and how they will impact the overall yield.

Roam Pilot Burning Pool is still open for users to participate in the experience

Currently, the Roam Pilot burning pool activity is still ongoing, and users’ active participation provides important suggestions for optimizing the final version of Roam. With continuous improvement of the burning mechanism and operational processes, it is believed that user experience will be further enhanced. Facing the upcoming TGE, users still have the opportunity to participate and optimize their own strategies, just download the Roam App, earn enough Roam Points, and participate in the burning to convert them into $ROAM Token.
