Quarkcoin ist eine Münze, die die Sicherheit erhöht, indem sie 9 Runden des Hashings von 6 verschiedenen Hashing-Algorithmen verwendet - blake, bmw, grøstl, JH, keccak, skein. 3 der Hashing-Runden wenden eine zufällige Hashing-Funktion an. Dies steht im Gegensatz zu Bitcoins alleiniger Verwendung des SHA-256-Algorithmus.
Es gibt keinen Pre-Mine für diese Münze. Ein neuer Block wird alle 30 Sekunden generiert, und zu Beginn werden 2048 Quark pro Block als Belohnung ausgegeben. Diese Belohnung halbiert sich alle 60480 Blöcke oder ungefähr alle 3 Wochen.
Das anfängliche Angebot von Quark beträgt 247 Millionen, und es wird erwartet, dass dies in etwa 6 Monaten seit dem Startdatum abgebaut wird. Das Angebot wird dann mit einer Inflationsrate von 0,5% pro Jahr weiter steigen. Quarkcoin wurde am 21. Juli 2013 gestartet.
