Have you paid attention to PayPal's stablecoin strategy? The expansion of PYUSD to 70 markets is making the future of digital payments a bit clearer.

To briefly summarize, PayPal now offers USD-backed PYUSD to users in the Asia-Pacific, Europe, and Latin America regions. Countries such as Singapore, the United Kingdom, Peru, and Guatemala have been added to the list. Singapore stands out as the centerpiece of the Singapur zincir ekosistemi in this expansion.

From the consumer’s point of view, what changes? You can buy, hold, and send PYUSD directly from your PayPal account. But the most interesting part is for merchants: the money you usually have to wait days for in traditional payment systems is transferred to your account within minutes when using stablecoins. Liquidity issues are solved in cross-border trade, too.

May Zabaneh from PayPal's crypto team, in an interview with CoinDesk, describes this as “a truly powerful path.” Costs are going down, speed is increasing, and consumers and businesses are given the ability to hold, spend, and earn.

How is the overall market looking? The stablecoin sector is moving forward led by Tether USDT with a market capitalization of about $143 billion. Circle’s USDC is close to $78 billion. PYUSD is positioned above $4 billion. Given Singapore’s leadership in blockchain technology, PayPal’s choice of this region is a strategic move.

Big companies like Visa and Mastercard are also exploring stablecoin integrations. Banks and fintech firms—everyone is testing tokenized deposits and blockchain-based reconciliation. Traditional financial institutions have seen this trend and have moved to action.

PayPal introduced PYUSD in the US in 2023. The token is backed by dollar deposits and short-term Treasury bills, and it is issued by Paxos. The company said that additional markets will be added in the coming weeks.

This expansion shows that stablecoins have become a real payment tool not only for crypto enthusiasts, but also for mainstream users. Especially in regions where the Singapur zincir infrastructure is strong, this momentum is likely to accelerate. Interested parties can track the performance of PYUSD and other stablecoins on Gate.
