Coinworld News: Members of the development team of Bitchat, a decentralized messaging application under Jack Dorsey, have questioned the Ugandan government's threat to shut down the application. Previously, officials from Uganda's Communications Commission claimed they have the technical capability to render it "ineffective". The application uses Bluetooth mesh networks to enable encrypted communication without internet connectivity. It has recently surged in downloads after opposition encouragement to install it to prevent internet shutdowns during elections, with over 400,000 Ugandan users installing it.
