US President Donald Trump signed an executive order to create a “Strategic Bitcoin Reserve” and “Digital Asset Stock” to strengthen the digital asset strategy. According to this executive order, approximately 200,000 Bitcoins held by the federal government and seized will be reserved without additional cost to taxpayers, functioning as a “digital Fort Knox.” White House AI and crypto czar David Sacks stated that the reserve will preserve Bitcoin as a store of value without selling the Bitcoins. Sacks also added that early sales led to $17 billion in losses for US taxpayers.
Reuters, while expressing that this move will strengthen the US's claim to global leadership in the crypto field; Investopedia suggests that the reserve could offer strategic benefits in terms of economic stability and national debt management (Reuters, 2025; Investopedia, 2024). The decree also includes taking a full inventory of digital assets and developing independent strategies from the budget for the Treasury and Commerce Departments.
As a result, this step is considered an important move that will strengthen the strategic position of the United States in the cryptocurrency market and support national financial security in the future.
