Academician Ouyang Minggao of the Chinese Academy of Sciences stated today that a new cycle of high-quality development driven by innovation will begin in 2026.
Over the next five years, the new energy vehicle industry will focus on seven major technological development directions, including full-process safety, all-weather ultra-fast charging (including battery swapping and rapid energy replenishment), fully autonomous driving, full electronic control chassis, all-solid-state batteries, high efficiency across all operating conditions (high-speed, low-temperature conditions), and fully functional electric vehicles.
Among them, “fully functional electric vehicles” involve areas such as electric vehicle power generation, energy storage, and vehicle-energy integration.
Ouyang Minggao believes that according to the innovation diffusion theory, once the penetration rate of new energy vehicles exceeds 50%, the market will officially shift from early mass market to late mass market, with the growth rate of market share slowing down but the increase in ownership accelerating.
