Boao Zero Carbon Demonstration Zone Fully Enters the Normalized "Zero Carbon Operation" Stage

Since the Boao Near-Zero Carbon Demonstration Zone was renamed the Boao Zero Carbon Demonstration Zone in March 2025, the demonstration zone has achieved significant results in energy conservation and carbon reduction, fully entering the normalized “zero carbon operation” phase. According to measured data, the carbon dioxide emissions related to energy in the Boao Zero Carbon Demonstration Zone’s buildings and municipal infrastructure have decreased from 11,350.1 tons in 2019 to about 14.6 tons in 2025, achieving a carbon reduction of 99.9%. The demonstration zone generated 29 million kilowatt-hours of green electricity throughout the year, which not only meets the zone’s annual electricity demand of about 19.4 million kilowatt-hours but also allows the remaining 9.6 million kilowatt-hours of green electricity to be fed into the grid.
