Violent conflicts in Haiti continue, resulting in over 5,500 deaths in the past year.

The latest report released on the 24th by the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights indicates that over the past 12 months, gang power in Haiti has expanded from the capital Port-au-Prince to the suburbs and has spread north to the Artibonite and Central provinces. The report notes that during the expansion of gang power, deadly violent incidents have continued unabated. The violent incidents involve gangs, security forces, private security companies, and self-defense organizations. (CCTV News)
