Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani said on social media Sunday that if Iran’s power plants are attacked, key infrastructure and energy facilities in the Middle East could face “irreversible destruction.”

Previously, U.S. President Donald Trump warned that if Tehran does not fully reopen the Strait of Hormuz within 48 hours, it will “completely destroy” Iran’s power plants.

Larijani stated that if Iranian facilities are attacked, the region’s infrastructure will become “legitimate targets,” and he said Iran’s retaliation could lead to a rise in oil prices for some time.
