People’s Financial News, March 24 — Recently, Qingdao City released the “Qingdao City Shipbuilding and Marine Equipment Industry Stabilization Growth Work Plan,” outlining development goals for the city’s shipbuilding and marine equipment industry by 2026. The plan emphasizes vigorously developing high-end, green vessel types, including large bulk carriers and ore ships powered by new fuels such as LNG, methanol, and ammonia, to promote the green and intelligent upgrade of main ship types. It also encourages the development of ultra-large oil tankers, container ships with over ten thousand TEUs, feeder container ships, and unmanned vessels, while proactively preparing technological reserves for smart ships. The plan encourages shipbuilding and repair enterprises to adopt green retrofit technologies early, including pilot projects for methanol and ammonia fuel retrofits.
