Shanghai Composite Index Falls Below 3800 Points, Hits New Low Since October 2025

Gelonghui March 23 | The decline of major A-share indices continues to widen, with micro-cap stocks dropping 6.5%. The Beijing Composite 50, STAR Market 50, Shenzhen Component Index, and All A-Share Index all fell more than 4%. The Shanghai Composite Index dropped nearly 4%, falling below 3,800 points for the first time since October 2025, hitting a new low. The sectors with the largest declines include non-ferrous metals, aquaculture, airports and shipping, and pharmaceuticals and biotech. Nearly 5,200 stocks in Shanghai, Shenzhen, and Beijing declined, with about 220 stocks falling more than 9%.
