The Ethereum Foundation published an article outlining the future ecosystem vision for L1 and L2. The article points out that L1 will maintain its role as a global settlement and DeFi hub, while L2's core mission has shifted from simple scaling to providing differentiated and customized services. The Foundation recommends that L2s achieve at least Stage 1 security standards and encourages them to evolve toward Stage 2, synchronous composability, and "native Rollup" directions. Meanwhile, the Ethereum Foundation commits to continuing to expand L1 and Blob (currently only about 30% full capacity) and will focus on addressing the fragmentation of cross-chain experience brought about by the multi-chain ecosystem.
