Aave v4 Gets Nearly Unanimous DAO Support, Ethereum Mainnet Deployment Enters Countdown
ChainCatcher News: On Monday, Aave DAO nearly unanimously approved an initial proposal to deploy the next-generation lending protocol Aave v4 on the Ethereum mainnet. V4 still requires formal voting approval and will initially adopt conservative parameters and streamlined asset allocation to prioritize security.
The development of v4 previously sparked controversy within the DAO. Two major contributors, Bored Ghosts Developing and Aave Chan Initiative, announced they would not seek renewal this year, partly due to Aave Labs’ proposal to pause v3 optimization work and adjust lending parameters to encourage user migration. Labs later withdrew the proposal, promising not to enforce migration.
Currently, Aave v3 remains the largest DeFi lending protocol, with user deposits exceeding $25 billion. Labs stated that v4 will adopt a hub-and-spoke architecture, supporting customized lending markets without splitting liquidity, which will significantly enhance DAO revenue potential.
