Abstract generation in progress

LS Power has agreed to acquire five gas-fired power plants totaling 4.4 GW in the PJM Interconnection from Constellation Energy for approximately $5 billion. This transaction was necessitated by conditions set by the U.S. Department of Justice and the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission following Constellation’s acquisition of Calpine, aimed at preventing market power issues. The deal, which involves plants in Delaware and Pennsylvania, is expected to close late this year pending regulatory approvals.
