Beibu Gulf's First 220 kV Cross-Sea Grid Connection Project Put into Operation; Weizhou Island Ends "Isolated Grid Operation"

People’s Financial News, March 21 — According to China Southern Power Grid, on March 20, the 220 kV Weizhou Island cross-sea interconnection project was successfully put into operation. As the first 220 kV cross-sea interconnection project in Beibu Gulf, this 44.8-kilometer submarine energy artery has completely ended the history of “isolated grid operation” on Weizhou Island, Guangxi. It connects the island to the China Southern Power Grid main network across the sea, injecting strong momentum into local livelihood security, cultural tourism upgrades, and marine economic development.
