US manufacturing output in February increased slightly, surpassing market expectations

According to Reuters on March 16, data released on Monday showed that in February, automobile production performed strongly, but weakness in the machinery sector partially offset this growth, resulting in a slight increase in factory output for the month. The Federal Reserve released data indicating that manufacturing output rose by 0.2% month-over-month in February, with January’s growth revised upward to 0.8%.

Previously, economists surveyed by Reuters expected manufacturing output to grow by 0.1% in February after a 0.6% increase in January. Factory production in February increased by 1.3% year-over-year.
