Mars Finance News, March 21 — According to CCTV reports, on March 20 local time, U.S. officials announced that the U.S. military is deploying three more ships and approximately 2,500 Marines to the Middle East. Previously, informed U.S. sources stated that the troop increase would provide President Trump with more military options, including launching an operation to open the Strait of Hormuz, which would require air and naval forces to be deployed along the Iranian coast.

Sources also revealed that the Trump administration is considering deploying ground forces to the strategic oil export hub of Kharg Island, aiming to seize the island as leverage to pressure Iran into reopening the Strait of Hormuz. Kharg Island is located in the northwest Persian Gulf, over 20 kilometers from the Iranian coast, and is Iran’s largest oil export base, accounting for about 90% of Iran’s oil exports.
