AI, Embodied Intelligence "High Concentration" 2026 Zhongguancun Forum Annual Conference Presents Six Major Highlights

The Beijing News Shell Finance News (Reporter Chen Weicheng) — On March 18, the State Council Information Office held a press conference to introduce the 2026 Zhongguancun Forum Annual Conference. Vice Minister of Science and Technology Lin Xin announced that the 2026 Zhongguancun Forum will be held in Beijing from March 25 to 29, with the annual theme of “Deep Integration of Scientific and Industrial Innovation.” The event will feature five main sections: forum meetings, achievement releases, technology transactions, frontier competitions, and supporting activities, totaling over 100 events. It is expected that more than a thousand guests from over 100 countries and regions will participate.

Lin Xin introduced that overall, this year’s forum has four main characteristics.

First, emphasizing the expansion of the international science and innovation center. Focusing on the construction of the Beijing (Jing-Jin-Ji) International Science and Innovation Center, the three regions will jointly host the Jing-Jin-Ji Collaborative Innovation and High-Quality Development Forum and the Jing-Jin-Ji Technology Transaction Results Matchmaking Conference, releasing policies to deepen cooperation among the three areas. They will jointly promote innovation collaboration and industrial cooperation in Jing-Jin-Ji, advancing the deep integration of “six key industrial chains and five industrial clusters.”

Second, highlighting the deep integration of technological and industrial innovation. Several thematic forums will be held around cutting-edge fields such as 6G, brain-computer interfaces, and cell and gene therapy, to explore technological innovation and industrial applications in these areas. Frontier technology competitions and technology transaction conferences will also be organized to provide platforms for transforming scientific achievements.

Third, promoting the integrated development of education, technology, and talent. Renowned universities, research institutes, and leading enterprises from home and abroad will be deeply involved, gathering outstanding engineers and young scientific talents to discuss talent cultivation models driven by technological development and strategic needs, inspiring innovation vitality.

Fourth, emphasizing high-level scientific and technological openness and cooperation. Under bilateral and multilateral international cooperation frameworks, multiple themed forums will be held, implementing the International Open Science Initiative and releasing the “International Cooperation Action Plan for Open Science.”

Jin Wei, a member of the Beijing Municipal Party Committee and Vice Mayor, added two points:

First, deepening Jing-Jin-Ji collaborative innovation. The policies and measures related to the Beijing (Jing-Jin-Ji) International Science and Innovation Center, to be announced at the opening ceremony, will serve as a “blueprint” for the future deep integration of science and industry in the three regions. We will work together to implement these plans. During this year’s conference, we will jointly hold multiple activities, release a batch of achievements, facilitate cooperation, and build innovation alliances to promote the deep and practical development of Jing-Jin-Ji collaboration.

Second, promoting the widespread application of artificial intelligence. At last year’s forum, the high concentration of robots showcased Beijing’s status as the “First City for Artificial Intelligence,” demonstrating its technological charm. This year, attendees will experience how AI evolution empowers various industries. For example, an AI “translator” will be on duty throughout, expanding language services from Chinese and English to include French, Russian, Spanish, and others, enabling seamless communication among guests from all over the world. Robot cafes will also open to serve customers; last year, they could only make coffee alone, but this year, they can work together to prepare meal sets. A robot band will also perform exciting shows for everyone.
