On March 17, the National Energy Administration released data on electricity consumption for the whole society for January and February. During this period, total electricity consumption reached 1,654.6 billion kWh, a year-on-year increase of 6.1%.

Breaking down by industry:

  • Primary industry: 22.3 billion kWh, up 7.4% year-on-year.
  • Secondary industry: 1,027.9 billion kWh, up 6.3% year-on-year, including:
    • Industrial electricity consumption: up 6.4%
    • High-tech and equipment manufacturing: up 10.6%
  • Tertiary industry: 323.1 billion kWh, up 8.3% year-on-year, with:
    • Charging and swapping services: 55.1% growth
    • Internet data services: 46.2% growth

Urban and rural residents’ electricity consumption was 281.3 billion kWh, an increase of 2.7%.
