The 2026 Zhongguancun Forum Annual Conference will be held in Beijing from March 25 to 29, with 4 characteristics

Reporters learned from the press conference held by the State Council Information Office this morning (18th) that the 2026 Zhongguancun Forum Annual Conference will be held in Beijing from March 25 to 29. The theme of this year’s Zhongguancun Forum is “Deep Integration of Scientific and Industrial Innovation.” It features five main sections: forum sessions, achievement releases, technology transactions, frontier competitions, and supporting activities, with over 100 events expected to attract thousands of guests from more than 100 countries and regions.

The conference will host 60 parallel forums, including 21 new sessions on topics such as the construction and development of world-class scientific journals and high-quality development of the science and technology service industry. There will also be 14 sessions focused on fundamental research areas like quantum technology and lunar and planetary space development.

• In major releases, the forum will debut the “2025 Global Engineering Frontiers” and the “International Open Science Cooperation Action Plan,” and unveil a series of significant achievements, including the “Top 10 Scientific Advances in China for 2025.”

• In technology transactions, over 20 matchmaking activities will be held, with more than 500 domestic and international science and technology projects participating in roadshows and presentations.

• In frontier competitions, the 9th Zhongguancun International Frontier Technology Competition finals will be held. As a showcase for innovative enterprises, more than 30 “unicorn” companies have emerged from this competition since its inception. This year, over 40% of participating teams are from abroad, and projects related to artificial intelligence are 2.4 times more than last year.

Vice Minister of Science and Technology Lin Xin introduced four key features of this year’s forum and conference:

1. Expanding the construction of international science and innovation centers. Focus on building the Beijing (Jing-Jin-Ji) international sci-tech innovation center, with joint events such as the Jing-Jin-Ji Collaborative Innovation and High-Quality Development Forum and the Jing-Jin-Ji Technology Transaction Results Matchmaking Conference. Policies for deepening cooperation among the three regions will be released, promoting innovation collaboration and industrial cooperation, including the “six key industrial chains and five industrial clusters.”

2. Emphasizing the deep integration of scientific and industrial innovation. Multiple thematic forums will be held on cutting-edge fields such as 6G, brain-computer interfaces, and cell and gene therapy, to explore technological innovation and industrial applications. Frontier technology competitions and technology transfer conferences will also be organized to facilitate the transformation of scientific achievements.

3. Promoting integrated development of education, science, technology, and talent. Renowned universities, research institutes, and leading enterprises from home and abroad will participate deeply, gathering outstanding engineers and young scientific talents to discuss talent cultivation models driven by technological development and strategic needs, and to stimulate innovation vitality.

4. Highlighting high-level international scientific and technological openness and cooperation. Under the framework of bilateral and multilateral international cooperation agreements, multiple thematic forums will be held, and the “International Open Science Cooperation Action Plan” will be released as part of the open science initiative.
