AI Inquiry · Qingming Holiday Homestay Bookings Surge: How Do Flower Viewing and Other Activities Drive the Trend?

Beijing Business Today (Reporter Wu Qiyun) — On March 18, Mu Niao Homestay released the “2026 Qingming Homestay Booking Trends Report,” showing that the combination of spring break and the Qingming Festival has提前 ignited travel enthusiasm for Qingming. Both volume and price are rising, becoming the main theme of the Qingming holiday, with homestay bookings during the holiday increasing by 25% year-on-year. The “Four Items” of Qingming—flower viewing, hiking, theme parks, and museums—are in high demand.

Latest data from Mu Niao Homestay indicates that since March 10, bookings for homestays during the Qingming holiday have significantly increased. As of now, bookings on the Mu Niao platform have grown by 25% year-on-year, with average stay duration per person increasing by 0.4 days. The rise in volume and price has become the main trend of the Qingming Festival. Driven by longer stays, the average per-guest spending during the holiday has increased by 33% year-on-year. Beijing remains the top city for Qingming holiday bookings with a 234% year-on-year increase, followed by Nanjing, Shanghai, and Luoyang in second to fourth place, with Chongqing, Dali, Hangzhou, Chengdu, Xi’an, and Qingdao close behind.

Flower viewing, hiking, theme parks, and museums are the most popular “Four Items” during the Qingming holiday. Flower viewing remains the top activity, with upcoming events like the Luoyang Peony Festival, Guangzhou Cherry Blossom Festival, and Tianjin Peach Blossom Festival boosting local search interest. Popular spots for Qingming flower viewing include the Summer Palace in Beijing, Xuanwu Lake in Nanjing, West Lake in Hangzhou, Gucun Park in Shanghai, and White Horse Temple in Luoyang. Wearing Hanfu and taking photos among the blooming flowers has become a popular experience. Over the past week, searches for mountain scenic spots such as Mount Tai in Shandong, Qingcheng Mountain in Sichuan, Jade Dragon Snow Mountain in Yunnan, and Mount Putuo in Zhejiang have increased by 169% month-on-month.
