Southern Theater Command Spokesperson Statement

Southern Theater Command spokesperson Rear Admiral Zhai Shichen said that on March 18, two Philippine C-208 aircraft illegally entered Chinese airspace over Huangyan Island without Chinese government approval. The Chinese People’s Liberation Army Southern Theater Command organized naval and air forces to warn and drive them away in accordance with laws and regulations. The Philippine actions severely violate China’s sovereignty and could easily lead to misunderstandings and misjudgments. We hereby warn the Philippines to immediately cease provocative violations. Our forces remain on high alert at all times, firmly defending national sovereignty, security, and regional peace and stability.
