Key Projects Open New Chapters, Energy Supply Enhances Momentum

— Fully Accelerating the Datong-Huailai-Tianjin South 1000 kV UHV AC Project

Spring has returned, and construction is in full swing. As a key project in the national “14th Five-Year Plan” for power development, the Datong-Huailai-Tianjin South 1000 kV UHV AC Project recently sounded the horn for resumption of work. Construction sites are orderly, and currently, 73% of civil works have been completed. Electrical installation work has shifted from preparation to actual operation, with overall progress reaching 23%.

On-site, key activities such as 1000 kV GIS equipment installation, 500 kV GIS equipment installation, and outdoor 110 kV distribution device installation are progressing simultaneously. Due to the high cleanliness requirements for UHV electrical main equipment during installation,现场施工人员正紧锣密鼓地实施各项防尘措施,为后续核心设备的精密安装创造洁净环境。

“We strictly control quality to ensure the installation of main transformers meets State Grid standards,” said Gao Wang, project technician from the electrical installation team. The first main transformer, weighing 337 tons, has been safely transported over 2,218 kilometers by sea and land from Jinan, Shandong, to Datong. Currently, the team is focusing on preparing for the installation of the million-volt GIS equipment, which will commence once conditions are ready. Meanwhile, the fourth transformer and the first high-voltage reactor have arrived on site, and installation and grounding work for 110 kV equipment are proceeding smoothly.

Civil construction has fully commenced, mainly focusing on the decoration and renovation of station structures, fire protection system installation, and cable trench construction. Electrical installation tasks, such as support frame hoisting, have been completed across the station. The dust-proof workshops for 1000 kV and 500 kV GIS are ready, with overall progress at 23%.

To ensure a good start and steady progress, the project management unit, State Grid Shanxi Construction Branch, has implemented a “combination punch” strategy. The company strictly enforces safety management measures for resumption of work, organizes management and subcontractor personnel to enter the site, holds safety reset meetings, conducts safety education and training, and carries out emergency drills for electric shock and fall from heights. Currently, over 190 workers in three work teams are working on the front lines. Additionally, the company has coordinated with the owner and supervision units to conduct comprehensive checks on staffing, machinery, materials, and现场环境,为工程如期竣工投运打下坚实基础。

The Datong-Huailai-Tianjin South UHV AC Project is a core channel for transmitting power from the Shanxi Jinbei coal mining subsidence area’s new energy base. Once operational, the Shanxi “West-to-East Power Transmission” UHV channel will expand from the current two horizontal lines to three, increasing the overall transmission capacity to 21 million kilowatts. This will significantly enhance the North China power grid’s mutual support capability, optimize regional energy supply structures, and improve the reliability of power supply in the capital circle.
