On the morning of March 18, the State Council Information Office held a press conference to introduce the 2026 Zhongguancun Forum Annual Conference. Vice Minister of Science and Technology Lin Xin announced that, with approval from the State Council, the 2026 Zhongguancun Forum Annual Conference will be held in Beijing from March 25 to 29.

The 2026 Zhongguancun Forum Annual Conference is jointly hosted by the Ministry of Science and Technology, the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council, the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Chinese Academy of Engineering, the China Association for Science and Technology, and the Beijing Municipal Government. Under the theme “Deep Integration of Scientific and Technological Innovation and Industrial Innovation,” the event features five main sections: forum meetings, achievement releases, technology transactions, frontier competitions, and supporting activities. There will be over 100 events, with participation expected from thousands of guests from more than 100 countries and regions.

Lin Xin highlighted four main features of this year’s forum:

  1. Emphasizing the expansion of the international science and innovation center. Focus on the construction of the Beijing (Jing-Jin-Ji) International Science and Innovation Center, with joint events such as the Jing-Jin-Ji Collaborative Innovation and High-Quality Development Forum and the Jing-Jin-Ji Technology Transaction Achievement Matchmaking Conference. Policies for deepening cooperation among the three regions will be released, promoting collaborative innovation and industrial cooperation, and advancing the “six key industrial chains and five industrial clusters” in depth.

  2. Highlighting the deep integration of scientific and technological innovation with industrial development. Several thematic forums will be held on cutting-edge fields such as 6G, brain-computer interfaces, and cell and gene therapy, to explore technological innovation and industrial applications in these areas. Frontier technology competitions and technology transaction conferences will also be organized to facilitate the transformation of scientific achievements.

  3. Promoting integrated development of education, science, technology, and talent. Renowned universities, research institutes, leading enterprises, and other organizations from home and abroad will participate deeply, gathering outstanding engineers and young scientific talents to discuss talent cultivation models driven by technological development and strategic needs, inspiring innovation vitality.

  4. Emphasizing high-level scientific and technological openness and cooperation. International cooperation frameworks will be implemented through bilateral and multilateral agreements, with multiple themed forums planned. An “International Cooperation Action Plan for Open Science” will be released to promote open scientific research.
